Gina found what she was looking for in yoga in 1999, and has been studying,
practicing and teaching ever since. She received her first certification through Atlanta
Yoga Fellowship/Peachtree Yoga Center in 2000 with her first teachers, Graham
Fowler and Ursula Nix. The currents of Grace led her to her first Anusara® yoga
workshop with John Friend in 2001 where her heart was blown open and her path
became clear. One of the most memorable moments of that auspicious weekend was
the demonstration of Vasisthasana by John's assistants. Astonished by the Shri of
their expression - which radiated the essence of divine Beauty and Grace - Gina was
transformed by simply witnessing it. It was such a recognition of the freedom and joy
that we are meant to taste that it ignited her fervent studies and practice of Anusara
yoga, a high spiritual art of embodying the Heart in yoga practice and in life. In June of
2006, she earned her Anusara yoga certification. Gina was the first certified Anusara
yoga teacher in the state of Georgia and has been a pioneer of the growth of Anusara
yoga community in the Southeast.
Gina's practice and teaching continues to evolve and deepen through Grace and the
guidance of her teachers. Gina studies regularly with John Friend and other national
certified Anusara yoga teachers. A meditator since 2000, she has recently embarked
on advanced studies with scholar and meditation teacher Paul Muller-Ortega,PhD.
She has logged over 1100 hours of Anusara yoga workshops and trainings, including
over 600 with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga, including the honor of
assisting him in some of his workshops. Gina is known for her passion and infectious
enthusiasm as well as her radiant presence and insightful streams of understanding.
She inspires both the depth of practice and light-hearted play. With dynamic and
progressive sequencing, Gina constantly invites her students to open to their fullest
possibilities in body, mind and heart.
Gina was named a lululebrity in lululemon's 2007-08 Yoga Guide to Atlanta and is a
lululemon Ambassador for 2011-2012. The Guide says "Gina Minyard is the queen of
Anusara yoga in Atlanta. Her passion for and devotion to her practice permeates the
studios where she teaches. She believes in a challenging yet playful and accessible
class. With a warm smile, Gina welcomes you to class and immediately you want to
know the freedom she experiences in her practice." Gina has also been a regular
presenter at the annual Atlanta Yoga Conference. In addition to her weekly classes
and private yoga sessions, Gina leads Anusara yoga Immersions, Teacher Trainings,
and national Anusara yoga workshops.
When not on the yoga mat or in the meditation seat, Gina practices the yoga of raising
her delightful son, Daniel, and living consciously and connected to nature in the urban
life of Atlanta. A world traveler in years past, she holds an undergraduate degree in
Romance Languages. For more information about Anusara yoga, visit
